Welcome to the Block!

Who has a new neighbor?  I do!  They just built a house and moved in a few weeks ago.

Here's a card to give to welcome the new neighbor.  If you add a church, you could use it to welcome people or send a note to visitors.  I think I'll make that one next!

The stamp set used for this card is a HOST set!  That means you can get it as part of your host rewards when you host a party or private class and your sales are at $150 or more.  OR you can be your own host with an order of $150 or more.

Supplies:
  • Stamp Sets: In the City Host Stamp Set (143771)
  • Inks: Lemon Lime Twist (144086), Pool Party (126982), Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Ink (140931)
  • Paper: Whisper White Thick (140272), Whisper White (100730), Lemon Lime Twist (144245)
  • Other: Rhinestone Basic Jewels (144220), Big Shot (143263), Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372)

Measurements:
  • Whisper White Thick Card Stock: 5½” x 8½”
  • Whisper White Card Stock:  3½” x 3½” min scrap
  • Lemon Lime Twist Card Stock: 5⅜” x 4⅛”

Instructions:
  1. Using Basic Black Archival Ink, stamp the house image into right corner of the square of Whisper White card stock (see photo for placement).  Stamp the tree beside it, with the base of the trunk slightly higher than the base of the house (about ⅛” of an inch).  Stamp the sentiment below.
  2. Using Lemon Lime Twist ink, stamp the center of the tree image, the door on the house, and the “grass” beside the house.
  3. Using Pool Party ink, stamp the solid image on the house outline.
  4. Adhere the Lemon Lime Twist to the Whisper White card base.
  5. Using your Big Shot and the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits, die cut the image.   Take care when doing this to make sure that you don’t cut off the bottom right corner of the square because it won’t line up on your card.  When placing the circle over the image, you can bring the edge very close to the corner, but don’t go over.  Once cut, adhere the stamped image to the card base.
  6. Add 5 Rhinestone jewels to the card.

Inside the Lines (or maybe Outside the Lines)

Hi All!

I have been lax in my sharing of projects I created for swaps.

I based this one on a sketch and from a make-n-take from OnStage Local event in November.

Panel is colored with the watercolor pencils - Melon Mambo, Old Olive, and Daffodil Delight and then blended with the Blender Pen.  I also added a bit of Wink of Stella to the middle of the flowers.  One does want a hint of glitter!

Here's a close-up to see the glimmer and coloring.  Notice that I'm not completely inside the lines.  It's okay!

To get the tonal effect of the dragonfly wings:

  • Ink the wing stamp with Pool Party - don't stamp yet.
  • Use a sponge dauber and apply Old Olive ink directly to the stamp.
  • Now stamp on Whisper White.

I also used some Wink of Stella on the diecut wings.  If you want extra glimmer, use the Gold Wink of Stella instead of the Clear.  This card, I used the clear on everything.

The thread behind the circles is actually the Melon Mambo Thick Twine.  I just unraveled some threads from a piece.  Then add some adhesive and smoosh it down on top.  It's going to look really ugly until you put the circles on top with dimensionals.  Then it looks awesome!
