Birthday Blooms

Do you love to color or paint?  Have you tried the Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils?

If yes, do you love them as much as I do?  If no, what are you waiting for?  Click here to get them now!

The card today uses the Birthday Blooms stamp set, Watercolor Pencils, and a technique call Spotlight.  Basically, you have a line art image stamped in the background.  Then, either another piece of cardstock, die cut, or punch piece is stamped again and colored.  Then, it is layered on top of the first image so only part of the image is colored.

Supplies:
  • Stamp Sets – Birthday Blooms (wood 140655, clear 140658)
  • Card Stock – Whisper White (100730); Watercolor Paper (122959)
  • Stamp Pads – Basic Black Archival (140931)
  • Misc. – Watercolor Pencils (141709); Blender Pens (102845); Metallics Sequin Assortment (138390); Fine-Tip Glue (138309), Dimensionals (104430)

Measurements:
  • Whisper White Card Stock: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, folded in half
  • Watercolor Paper: 2” x 4 ½”

Instructions:
  1. Stamp the blossom image in the center of the white cardstock base using Basic Black Archival ink.  Let dry.
  2. Stamp the blossom image in the center of the watercolor paper using Basic Black Archival ink.  Let dry.
  3. Color in the flower petals using the Melon Mambo watercolor pencil. Color in the flower center using the Daffodil Delight watercolor pencil.  Color in the leaves using the Old Olive watercolor pencil. Lay the pencil on the artists detail lines.  Use the Blender Pen to spread the color and remove the pencil marks.  Be sure to clear your Blend Pen between colors.
  4. Adhere the watercolor paper layer directly over the stamped image on the white cardstock base using Dimensionals. Be careful to mimic the image as closely as possible.
  5. Stamp the “For You” greeting in the upper right corner of the white card base using Basic Black Archival ink. Let dry.
  6. Adhere white sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment, as shown, using Fine-Tip Glue. Let dry.
  7. Add rhinestones near the sequins, as shown.

Joy to the World!

As soon as I saw the ribbon and sequins, I KNEW I wanted to create a Christmas card with these alternate colors!

I watched a live video by Sara Douglass, Stampin' Up! CEO, showcasing her daughter's birthday card.  She heat embossed gold on Gold Foil.  It was amazing!  Then I thought - what if I used an embossing folder with Silver Foil.  And WOW!  I love it!

A little tip with the sequins - use the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to place dots of glue.  Then add the sequins on top of the glue.  Set aside to dry.

Supply list below:

What other alternate colors do you like to use for Christmas cards instead of the traditional red and green?  Leave some comments and let's have some fun!  I'll work to create some fun new Christmas cards with your color combination suggestions.

Day 4 - Cruising

Day 4 was in Livorno / Pisa / or Florence.  We docked in Livorno and bussed into the town.  Lots of shops, markets, etc.

One of the shops displayed these mannequins.  Still wondering why the eyelash dropped below the eye on ALL of them.  Maybe it's a thing in Italy?

That afternoon we traveled to the Pitti Winery.  AMAZING!

Beautiful countryside, a family chapel, barrels of wine, olive oil produced (but we didn't experience that area), and a wonderful tasting.

The tasting - what can I say about the tasting!  Four different types of wine, food pairings, great company, and a slight breeze.

Amazing!  I'm also not a seasoned drinker at this point in my life.  Alcohol content in the wine is around 13% - the US is about 6%.  I drank four glasses of wine.  You would think I would be stumbling everywhere - but I didn't!  Not much of an effect at all!!

For more information on this winery, click here for their website.  You can use Google Translator if you do not read Italian.

And now, time for some stamping!

The photo quality is not fantastic, but these were photos taken from the general session.  Fox and Friends!  This project is super cute - little bookmarks that peek over the page.

Fox & Friends Class is coming up in August - check out the events tab for more information!

Day 3 Cruising

Day 3 found us in Rome!  I had almost 14,000 steps that day.  I thought my legs were going to fall off!

Before we departed, we found out that there was a rail strike.  Good thing our travel was by bus!  Originally, we were going to ride the train to Rome!

Then, Colosseum workers were striking.  So, no inside photos.  Such a mob of people!  Not many Romans - mostly tourists and those on strike.

Next stop was the Roman Forum!

These musicians were playing Canon in D by Pachelbel in front of the Forum.  It was amazing!

The video below is a little snippet of their music.  Just listen and don't mind my poor videographer skills!  :)

And now, the Trevi Fountain!

Again - sooooo many people!  We were warned about pick pockets in this area.  Unless it was other tourists or guides, I did not see any Romans in the area!  Such a beautiful and HUGE fountain!

Any trip to Italy is not complete without some pasta and some wine!

We dined al fresco just past the Pantheon at Scusate il Ritardo Caffe - which means "sorry for the delay."

Mouth-watering, homemade pasta (not the dried stuff we get in the US!), Italian wine and bread.  MWAH!

So relaxing watching the people stroll by while savoring our meal.

And now, time for some stamping!

This is one of the make-n-takes for the achievers.  So very pretty!

Recommitted and Cruising!

I am recommitted to blogging!  The first step is to get a new post going along with some awesome photos.

How about a few from the Stampin' Up! Mediterranean Cruise Incentive Trip?  Now, I did not earn it, but my awesome upline did and brought me along!  So Amazing!!

Day One - in Barcelona before we could board the ship.  That's my up-for-thirty-six-hours look.  I'm pointing at the ship and my new friend Megan is photobombing me!  :)

Angela and I - Zzzzzzzzzz

I finally got a shower.  And note - I am on the balcony and deathly afraid of heights.  But for some reason, being over the water did not bother me at all!

Of course, what is a Stampin' Up! trip without cute project displays!

More coming soon!
